Micanopy Half Marathon

Ah, I'm surprised I still remember my login info, as I have been blogging so infrequently. I guess my free time has been filled with a lot of hours of running this semester. I ran in the Micanopy Half Marathon on Saturday, which I began training for in August. Micanopy is a cute little town about 20 miles south of Gainesville. It's always nice to run in local races because you don't have to worry about travelling, and you can sleep in your own bed the night before. The weather was gorgeous, but the start was a bit cold (yes, I've acclimated to Florida weather), hence the gloves and long sleeved shirt I toted on my waist for a majority of the race. I didn't run as fast as I did in my first half-marathon in August 2003, which was right before leaving for the Peace Corps when I had a good training partner. My time then was 1:47:00 (I was quite excited about hitting 47 minutes exactly!), and I was eight minutes slower Saturday (1:55:12). But my average pace per mile Saturday was 8:47. And there is a picture of me looking rather athletic (a rare occurrence) with a guy wearing the number 47 behind me.
