Time to Shop
My first day of classes is officially done. Sigh. Regarding the advanced stats course I was studying up for, well it's not going to happen. It's a mathematical statistics core course, and the professor encouraged us to think about why we were taking the class if we weren't in the stats department, especially if we hadn't taken the prerequisites, which I obviously haven't. I thought that my prior stats course might be enough to scrape by, but I soon learned on his prerequisite quiz, that I was hopelessly in the wrong place. He said the quiz would be easy if one had taken the appropriate prereqs, and when I glanced at the quiz and none of the answers seemed obvious to me, I had to follow the train of people who had slowly been trickling out of the room after his discouraging comments. I'm not sure yet if I will replace those credits with research hours or another course. I guess I'll have to do a bit of shopping. Class shopping, that is.
IP was a little painful, as no one wanted to contribute comments about the article we read, though people seemed to relax a bit in the second hour. I hope discussion will become more lively as the semester progresses.
