Juliet, Take Two

All week, I felt guilty about running away from my “date” last Monday. I went back to the tango class last night and fretted for the first half hour because he didn’t come. But he arrived eventually, put on his elf shoes, and then avoided me for most of the class. I asked him to dance at the end and apologized for running off last week. I did make it clear that I’m leaving in a few weeks and am not currently interested in dating someone. He says worse has happened, and seemed to accept my apology. It wasn’t that hard; I should have done it in the first place.

And now maybe I can finally catch up on all the things I put off last week while trying to prepare my seminar for the Fish and Wildlife Graduate Seminar. I gave them a presentation about my work in Senegal yesterday. Lots of people came, and it was fun because they all listened to me. It was a contrast from the high school students I presented to in December when all I saw in the audience were blank stares.
