Casa de Sol

I moved at houses at the beginning of the month. My new house is actually an old house in the historic section of town with high ceilings, wood floors, and a recently remodeled kitchen. There are lots of windows to fill the house with natural light, which makes me happy. And my new roommate, Sunshine, has a personality to match her name. We've been working on the garden, which meant spending most of last Saturday ripping out the droopy plants that were there and being taken over by invasives. Sunshine and her sister, Misty--the rest of the children in the family are not named with weather terms (I asked)--planted a lot on Monday, and now I'm wishing I had a before and after picture. At some point I'll post the after picture.

The skies have been smoky and hazy due to wildfires near us and near the Florida/Georgia border. On Tuesday, the sun was pinkish red in the middle of the afternoon, and everything has been covered in a fine layer of ash floating around. Biking home yesterday gave me burning eyes and lungs. Reluctantly, I have opted not to run this week.
